My daytime job takes me across South Australia for delivery of cakes, cookies, chocolates, and many such bakery items. By the evening, I am the best babysitter you can call for your kids. Thus, my daily routine involves a lot of traveling, and today, let me take you along with me on my eventful day!<\/p>\n

Croissant is an extremely popular bakery in our area with branches in different states. Thus, we have Dynamics 365 in place to manage our records. I own a Ford that assists me in the deliveries and both of us navigate our directions using Maplytics<\/a> a geo-analytical plugin for Dynamics 365. You will get to learn a lot about Maplytics today, so let\u2019s get started.<\/p>\n

8:30 am:<\/strong> My deliveries start at noon but I reach the bakery by 9 am to help with the stock-up of food items and also ad hoc delivery of raw materials from our suppliers if required. Thus, as you can see, I am on my way, to a 30 min ride. My home is my origin and destination added to my schedule created by my Operations Manager using the Auto Scheduling<\/a> feature of Maplytics. Hence, you can see, that the optimized route that is visible on Google Maps is a continuous route with turn-by-turn navigation directions plotted using Route Optimization<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21913″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]9:00 am:<\/strong> It is 9 am friends, and we are at the bakery. Let\u2019s see what we can help with<\/p>\n

9:45 am:<\/strong> Guys, one of the decorators requires edible maroon dust powder to decorate a theme-based cake. That color is unfortunately not available with any of our suppliers at the moment, so, let’s take the bakery bike and hunt for it in some nearby stores. I have pulled out the Point Of Interest Location<\/a> feature of Maplytics on my phone, added Croissant as the POI location, and searched for some stores, hopefully, someone has it![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21914″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]11:00 am:<\/strong> I am finally back at the bakery friends. The maroon dust was successfully delivered. Jenna, the baker gave me my favorite Pain Au Chocolate<\/em><\/strong> as a thank you! Finding the dust wasn\u2019t easy, but, the thing about POI Location is that it gives navigation directions to all of the nearby locations plotted. So, I could simply glide from one store to another and find it. There is an hour for my deliveries to start, so I\u2019ll start loading up my truck.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21915″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Noon:<\/strong> Alright friends, I have 8 deliveries now. All are back-to-back. Since I have my pre-planned schedule ready with me, I need not go back to the bakery after every delivery. Will finish up all the deliveries and then reach Croissant. I have a coffee break of 15 minutes at around 3 pm. Let us see where we are then and decide.<\/p>\n

2:00 pm:<\/strong> Hey there! It\u2019s 2 pm, I am done with 4 deliveries, and just realized that I need to collect some medicines for my dog. For the next cake, I\u2019ll be in the Russell Street area where a pet pharmacy is, so, I\u2019ll collect the medicines from there. Right now, the best route is on my maps which is traffic-free, toll-free, and highway-free, I\u2019ll keep following it!<\/p>\n

2:45 pm:<\/strong> There is an update guys! The pharmacy was shut down for renovations. So, I have to go to a different one. I am actually assigned to this Territory<\/a> named #Koala for deliveries and the other pharmacy is in the sales territory #Kangaroo where another rider travels. There is a free slot in my schedule on Wednesday, I\u2019ll try going there then or shall ask the other rider, Jo to get the medicines for me. Will figure it out. I still have medicines worth 10 days left, so things shall be managed!<\/p>\n

3:00 pm:<\/strong> The last 2 deliveries are left now, but, it is my coffee break. I have been wanting to try out this wonderful new caf\u00e9 that has opened in this area. Since I am here today, let me search for it and try it out.<\/p>\n

3:15 pm:<\/strong> Friends, highly recommend this place, #CafeTroppo, excellent coffee, do try it out. I had the Gardener\u2019s Bagel and a #Piccolo. Now will quickly complete the last 2 stops.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21916″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]4:00 pm:<\/strong> Hey guys, I am done for the day, but there has been an adventure. There is an extra cake in my truck. It is not scheduled for me, so, I checked at Croissant, and turns out it belongs to a different rider, Adam. Luckily, we use Real-Time Tracking<\/a> of Maplytics, so, I am being tracked on my delivery ride, at all times. This is normally done to send help for emergencies or to keep clients informed if needed. But today, they tracked me and are sending Adam my way. How cool is this! Every day is adventurous!<\/p>\n

4:30 pm:<\/strong> Alright friends, Adam collected the cake, and I am officially done for the day. Will head to the bakery once, sign off for the day, and leave for home.<\/p>\n

7:00 pm:<\/strong> Alright guys, it is 7, I am done with my dinner, had some leftover pasta. Tomorrow\u2019s schedule is light, with just 3 deliveries, so I can take Cuddle, my dog to the beach in the evening and also treat him to some water sports. It is so good to know your schedules, it really helps in having a work-life balance.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”21917″ img_size=”full” style=”vc_box_outline”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Right now, I have to watch over Noa, the kid in the neighborhood. His parents have to attend a wedding reception. So, I\u2019ll rush over there and play some board games with the kid. It was great fun having you all tag along with me all day long.
